We are pleased to announce the opening of Fernanda Laguna’s first exhibition at an art institution in the US. Laguna is an iconic artist in Argentina, among the most influential of her generation due to her multifaceted art practice which centers on the visual arts but includes celebrated poetry and novels, creation of alternative cultural spaces and projects —among them the now mythical Belleza y Felicidad (Beauty and Happiness)— and an effective social practice which she has carried on for over fifteen years in the marginalized neighborhood of Villa Fiorito.
The exhibition focuses on paintings produced between 2010 and 2020. Additionally, a separate room showcases High on the Tide, a project co-organized with Cecilia Palmeiro, which gathers memorabilia and personal testimonies from participants in the active demonstrations against gender violence which took place in recent years. ICA is also publishing a printed production of the members of Belleza y Felicidad Fiorito, in newspaper format.
