LALANA was born from the desire to associate different proposals by visual artists with some local artisan production techniques. It enhances the possibilities of the decorative arts, combined by the plastic artist and responding to the project logic that design offers. The transfer to another materiality, scale and spatial relationship involves us in new ways of connecting with the works. Without losing their aura, they occupy a place where we can use, touch and walk.
The lalana_ensayo 1 exhibition was conceived and carried out with the gallery artist OSIAS YANOV, who designed a special hanging system adaptable to the given space, giving the pieces a more experimental and malleable dimension, even performative. The exhibition proposes to go through images generated over different decades. Some models and essays are glimpsed, displaying the beauty of the sometimes failed, imperfect attempt in progress.
You can see rugs made from images by Luis Benedit, Juan del Prete, Víctor Grippo, a wallpaper based on Adriana Bustos’ Bestiary of the Indies, a chair prototype generated from a 1996 sketch by Benedit, door handles designed by Valentín Demarco and Marcial Berro, prototypes of the icon of Argentine design, Ricardo Blanco.
Three conversations deepening the thought and production processes around the intersection of art and design accompany this visit by LALANA to the gallery.
