INFO
Sofia Bohtlingk is one of the most visible Argentine artists who is exploring the language of painting. Her approach to pictorial language avoids notions of composition or expressions, in order to emphasise its performative aspect. The surface of the painting becomes the registry of a series of gestures which were pre-determined by a set of rules. Her palette consists of unmixed blues, straight from the oil paint tube, and the greys of concrete. This material, along with brick —the most commonly used building materials in Argentina— are increasingly central elements in her work, as an homage to the naked home, without coverings or linings, future domestic spaces at their most vulnerable yet fundamental stage.
