Reinscription of a Landscape
March 17th – April 28th 2017
INFO
For the past several years Cynthia Kampelmacher has been doing a systematic exploration on the possibilities and potential of the image, taking as point of departure snapshots of the jungle she took while at a residency in Panama in 2008. The intricate pattern of vegetation became a platform, an excuse, a pointer, which has been subjected to reiterated iterations, as if metaphorically standing for the erasures and transformations which memory exerts on
actual lived moments. Hers is an investigation on the poetics of gesture and on visual subtleties.
Kampelmacher participated in one of the earlier editions of Beca Kuitca, the most prestigious program for artists training in Argentina. She has received many relevant local awards including those from the National Endowment for the Arts, the First Prize at the Bahia Blanca Biennial, grants from Fondo Metropolitano and Fundación Telefónica, among others. She was selected for residencies at BANFF in Canada, Fundación Llopis in Panama and Ars + Flora in Bogota, Colombia. She has had 12 solo exhibitions and participated in numerous group shows. Her works are in the public collections of Museo de Arte Contemporáno de Rosario, Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Bahía Blanca, La Rural, and in relevant private collections in Argentina, Panama, Italy, USA, Belgium, Canada, Chile and Spain.
