LINDNERFEST, 3rd edition: Choripanipzus.exe
Lux Lindner Drawing Festival
Lux Lindner (1965) has participated in the Buenos Aires art scene since the late 1980s, having exhibited at the Centro Cultural Rojas in the 1990s. His erudition about Argentine history and culture and his histrionics have transformed him into an artist with an original and particular profile, capable of a lucid and scathing analysis of argentinity and its symbolic forms. Lindner is a great draftsman, prolific, he draws daily as a way of reflecting, usually in A4 size.
Lindner’s work has been widely recognized, having won, among others, the Konex Prize for Drawing, the Andreani Foundation First Prize and the Klemm Foundation First Prize. Internationally it has been exhibited at the Istanbul Biennial, Turkey, the Drawing Center, New York and the Casa Lope de Vega, Madrid, among other institutions.
The first edition of LindnerFest was in August 2011, in the small space on Calle Güemes where the gallery had opened the previous year. The idea arose from Lux’s discovery of several boxes with wonderful drawings in her attic. The gallery space was upholstered with folios containing these drawings.
The following year a selection from LindnerFest was presented at arteBA. On that occasion, the MALBA, Museum of Latin American Art of Buenos Aires, acquired more than 100 of these drawings, dated between 1987 and 2011.
Faced with a new find by Lindner of “historical” drawings from the 1990s, this LindnerFest will feature both works from that time and from intervening decades, and a larger recent series dedicated to the life and work of Florencio Molina Campos.
