Displacement, fissure, uncertainty, and repetition are constants in Ana Tiscornia’s work. She seeks to unite the apparently fortuitous and the precise calculation, in a fragment of a structure — that of a house with modernist echoes– that activates perceptions of physical fragility and ideological failure. Fragmented architectures, remains of collapsed habitable spaces are metaphors at work in her pieces, in order to address displacement.
Tiscornia does not undermine a certain elegance, which points as much to a poetic rescue in the debacle, as to a contradiction in the friction between representation and content. The use of tools of the architectural language, frequent in her work, insists on the paradox of addressing devastated spaces with the semantics of construction.
